BRIDGES

In this series, the bridge is a metaphor for the passing of time. Compositions are stacked, cyclical, and sequential, a study of rhythm and visual speed. Repetitive arches evoke narrative time, similar to the frames of a movie film. Painted from unusual perspectives, concrete columns revolve in circular evolutionary format, depicting fragments from memory and experience. The themes stillness to motion, male to female, personal to universal, and interior to exterior are woven into a structural system of interchanging opposites. In keeping with these contrasts, the paint handling combines hard-edged rendering with thick impasto.
