Suburban

This series of landscapes was drawn from the quirky vernacular of the suburbs. Most of the scenes were imagined, but they include images from memory that the artist knows well. Overarching themes include man taming nature, utopian ideals, and the American dream. Ordinary places are strangely beautiful, and the simple act of eating takes on ritualistic importance in a backyard barbecue.

Cycles

The cycle, or revolving carousel, is a metaphor for evolution and the passing of time. These carousels spin personal histories into a never ending cycle of opposites—warm and cool, high and low, mobile and static. Male and female sides are painted in split diptych form.
